How to turn screenshots into tasks on iPhone

Three ways to get a screenshot out of your camera roll and into Calendar, Reminders or Contacts, compared honestly.

The three ways

By hand. Open the screenshot, then type the date, the time and the details into Calendar or Reminders yourself. It is free, but it takes a minute or two per screenshot, and most screenshots never get done.

Apple's built-in tools. On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, iOS can spot an event in a screenshot and offer to add it to Calendar. It handles one event at a time and does not make reminders or contacts.

A screenshot to task app, like Shotodo. Shotodo reads the whole screenshot, finds every event, reminder and contact in it, and saves them in one tap. It also works on screenshots you already have, up to 10 at a time.

Questions

Can my iPhone turn a screenshot into a reminder by itself?

Not on its own. iOS can offer to add an event to Calendar from a screenshot on iPhones with Apple Intelligence, but it does not make reminders or contacts. Shotodo does all three.

What is the fastest way to clear a screenshot backlog?

Pick up to 10 screenshots at once in Shotodo, check the items it finds, and save them all in one tap.

Does it work without Apple Intelligence?

Yes. Shotodo works on any iPhone with iOS 26 or later. Without Apple Intelligence, it uses Shotodo Cloud, which only sees the text, never the image.
